DESCRIPTION OF THE OFFICIAL MASTER’S DEGREE IN PRIMARY CARE RESEARCH

The Master of Research in Primary Care has been designed as a multidisciplinary program useful for Health professionals (Physicians, Pharmacists, Nurses, Physiotherapists, Podiatrists, Nutritionists, Occupational Therapists, and Psychologists). It is particularly aimed at professionals who develop their work in the field of Primary Care.

The training programme of this master aims at the development of a research profile on:

– Enable students to design, analyze, execute and interpret results in health, epidemiological and clinical research.

– Develop knowledge and skills for the process of researching from his clinical practice in the field of Primary Health Care.

– The implementation of both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies that can be carried out in the clinical practice of students.

2. Prepares the student to continue his research period in the PhD, through the preparation of a doctoral thesis.

PLANNING

The Master of Research in Primary Care has a duration of 60 ECTS credits equivalent to one academic year. It will be structured in 2 semesters:
– A first semester of common compulsory courses involving a total of 39 ECTS.
– A second semester of optional courses in which  students must choose 9 ECTS. Or two electives subjects.
– The student must finish the Master with the elaboration of a Research Project related to the theme of Primary Care. It shall be with 12 ECTS credits for the elaboration of the final work. The project will be prepared under the supervision of a Tutor-Director and will finish with the public presentation at the end of the academic year.

ACCESS AND ADMISSION

Access

To access the official teachings of this master’s degree will be required to be in possession of an official Spanish university degree, or one issued by an institution of Higher Education of the European Higher Education Zone which authorize in the exporting country of the title for access to Master’s.

Likewise, acced graduates according to educational systems outside the European Zone of Higher Education without the approval of their titles, subject to verification by the University that those credited a level of education equivalent to the corresponding official Spanish university degree and that authorize the country issuing the title access to postgraduate teachings.

Access by this route does not imply, in any case, the approval of the previous title that is in possession of the interested, nor its appreciation to other effects than the study the teachings of Master.

Admission

Profile of income

The following profiles are preferably valued: University graduates in any of the areas related to the Health Sciences (Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Nutrition, Podiatry, Occupational Therapy, Psychology).

Available is also graduated theme related to the previous qualifications (Social Work, Dentistry, Biology, Biochemistry) and professionals who develop their work in the field of Primary Care. In this case, a verification is required to complete this Master series of requirements that will allow the adaptation of the student to the regulations in force. These requirements can be the need to pursue a complementary training, according to the criteria of the University Miguel Hernández of Elche on the proposal of the Board of Master. Up to day of today not has been necessary training complementary to any student.

The student admissions process is assessed on a weighted basis

– Adequacy of the applicant’s degree(s) to the master’s areas of knowledge: 50%
– Degrees within the health sciences (10 points)
-Other degrees related to the area (8 points)
– Transcript or personal academic certificate. 30% (0-10 points)
– Curriculum vitae. (Knowledge of English is valued at a minimum A2 level). 20% (0-10 points)

In this process of admission is, firstly, a pre-enrolment at the Masters during the period enabled on the web page of the University Miguel Hernández (UMH). Admission and subsequent selection is carried out according to the above aspects, the Commission for Admission of Students, which will be formed by her Director of the Master’s Degree, two professors of the Master and a member of the PAS of the Research Department of management.

The criteria for admission, as well as the announcement of the initiation, development and end of the process of admission of the Master are published in the official bulletin boards and on the website of the UMH. Information and dissemination of these criteria and the academic offer of the programme by publishing brochures and guides is also provided. In addition, held talks for the dissemination of this information among the UMH grade students, as well as during meetings of scientific societies in the field of Primary Care for the dissemination among professionals and residents.
